John Mann
Since the beginning of time man has looked for a crock of gold at the end of the rainbow and here at Rainbows End we think you will find that little nugget with a fine hand crafted gift. Fine craftsmanship evokes images of something special, something better and something different. So when you come across fine hand designed and crafted gifts you are getting something that can only be made possible by the touch of human hands, something created by hours of love, passion, vision and experience.
I am John Mann ( john the gourd man ) I’m 70 years old and have resided in Cyprus since re locating from the UK and have been painting and crafting for the last 20 years, selling in my shop Rainbows End located in the old town of Paphos.
I paint onto many differing objects, wood, stone, glass and canvas mainly using oils, acrylics and inks. I also use pyrography (wood burning) on various objects and sculpt clay into decorative pieces. Ostrich egg carving is another art form that I lend my hand too. The traditional Cypriot art of decorating gourds I have taken in to a new dimension by the use of pyrography, carving and decorating using mainly inks. Gourds are the ultimate canvas as you can do anything on them and whilst the majority of these gourds I turn into lamps, I also fashion vases and wine carafes.
The lamps are my particular favourite pieces to work on using all of my skills to create beautiful lasting effects and unique designs on different shaped gourds which I have exported to all corners of the world. The majority of these lamps are mains electricity but some are battery and solar powered. Gradually my designs have become more complex and each one takes around 12 to 16 hours to complete. My inspiration comes from the animal and natural world and I hope you will find enjoyment in seeing my works.

Mary Snow
I find inspiration in the vibrant tapestry of the world. Having grown up in Africa and currently residing in the sun-soaked landscapes of Cyprus, I am drawn to the vivid hues and textures that have surrounded me throughout life. I embarked on my mosaic journey in 2007, drawn to the artistic legacy of Cyprus and its Roman mosaics dating from the 2nd to the 5th centuries AD. Initially driven by a desire for a mosaic coffee table, I delved into a six-week workshop, discovering a passion that would shape my creative path.
This newfound enthusiasm led me to produce small decorative items for homes and gardens, establishing a cottage industry showcased in craft shops and fairs around Paphos. Despite the evolving success of my craft, the elusive coffee table project remains on the horizon.
My artistic repertoire extends beyond personal projects, as I welcome commissions for diverse pieces, ranging from mirrors and tables to distinctive signs. Noteworthy among my accomplishments is a large welcome sign for a local village, measuring an impressive 170cm by 140cm. Another standout creation is a 3D lizard, 140cm by 60cm by 30cm, finding its way to a sunny perch on a Cyprus balcony.
In addition to these artistic pursuits, I have shared my knowledge and passion through hosting workshops. Witnessing the transformative journey of students as they bring their mosaic creations to life brings immense joy. My creativity extends to repairs, where I bring new life into damaged or aging mosaic pieces, preserving the art form's enduring legacy. Captivated by the vibrant colours inherent in mosaics, my work not only boasts a visually striking appeal but also surprises with its tactile quality on some finished pieces, inviting viewers to experience the art on a sensory level.

In 2020, my husband and I embarked on an exciting adventure, leaving our previous lives behind to pursue a dream in Cyprus. The two of us shared a vision to create something truly special for the people of Cyprus, as well as the countless tourists who visit this beautiful island. Our dream was to establish a laser cutting and engraving company, offering unique, bespoke, and personalized products that stood out from the typical souvenirs found in Cyprus.
The decision was not without its challenges. While I had Cypriot heritage, I couldn't speak Greek, and my husband, hailing from South Africa, was also not fluent in the local language. However, our determination and enthusiasm were unwavering. We knew that with hard work, dedication, and a genuine passion for our craft, we could overcome language barriers and connect with the local community.
Our journey was marked by perseverance and a desire to earn the trust and support of our fellow Cypriots. Slowly but surely, we managed to build meaningful relationships and establish ourselves within the community. We were determined to create something that resonated with the locals and offered tourists a unique and memorable experience.
Our laser cutting and engraving company began to thrive as we introduced our one-of-a-kind creations to the market. Our range of personalized items included glass engravings, custom Zippo lighters, slate and acrylic LED lamps, and so much more…These products quickly gained popularity among both tourists and locals, who appreciated the artistry and attention to detail that went into every piece we created.
Our journey, from the decision to relocate to Cyprus to the establishment and success of our laser cutting and engraving business, is a testament to the power of determination, passion, and the pursuit of a dream. We are proud to have contributed a touch of uniqueness and personalization to the Cyprus market, and we look forward to many more years of creating exceptional, bespoke items that bring joy to our customers.

Maria Kallika
I am Maria Kallika Kyriakide, born and raised in Paphos, Cyprus. I was very fortunate to be able to turn my hobby, first to a side hustle and then to a full time job.
I started with small arts and crafts exhibitions around Paphos and the surrounding areas over 20 years ago, now I have a shop. I offer a range of handmade items in my shop, located in the Old Town of Paphos.
The products I make range from jewellery to crochet toys, cards, handpainted boxes and various decorations for the house. I constantly create new items as I am always interested in trying new hobbies and learning new crafts. One of my bestselling items are my custom, hand-painted moneyboxes. They are a great gift for people that want to encourage money saving and have been very popular with a lot of my return customers for the past couple of years.

Angela Winstanley
Born in 1954 I have spent a lifetime drawing and painting, both as a hobby and as a part time source of income. I received formal tuition in art during the 1970s and have continued over the years to develop my craft. A qualified Social Worker, Psychologist and specialist in Autism Spectrum Conditions, I pursued a career in this field, becoming a senior manager for the National Autistic Society. I relocated to Cyprus full time in 2010 and now work freelance in Cyprus and also deliver training to educationalists across the EU.
Having given up ‘the day job’ I was able to devote more time to my artwork. I tend to paint in series – but am very much inspired by observation of life, and people. I sometimes refer to myself as ‘ a comedian on canvas’ as I tend to see the humorous side of human situations. To be true – much of my work is unashamedly ‘ toilet’ fodder – ideally displayed in hallways and toilets – where people can linger and look for the ‘ hidden items’ in the pictures. I paint in the ‘naïve style’ – child like and a little out of formal proportion.
During 2012 I was greatly inspired to capture the ‘ spirit of Cyprus’ in my work – I guess like a comedian working from humorous real life situations, I have captured life in Cyprus as I see it, with my canvas brushes and paint. I can admit to smiling whilst I work with this series, and sharing the moment with onlookers.
I have also written and illustrated a children’s book- The adventures of Noggin Clontith- the story of a Gnome and his friends. Following this I animated and produced a DVD of Noggin’s Adventures, in collaboration with a group of fellow musicians.
My exhibition and catalogue is designed to showcase my range. Some paintings have been printed and sold as limited-edition copies. Some have been re - printed to order. The current showcase of The Shop on the Square in Kouklia provides a platform for my various series of paintings which I hope you will enjoy. I can also restore photographs through digital media.
